Dunning is Chicago community area 17, a 3.7-square-mile area on the Northwest Side, about 10 miles from the Loop. Dunning is a mostly residential area on the Far Northwest Side between Portage Park and O’Hare. About three out of four parcels are single-family houses, and the area has newer subdivisions on former institutional land around Oak Park Avenue.
